Hi Queens!
My name is Michantely Lisse, and I founded Miss Ponytails. With my background in beauty pageants and my knowledge of e-commerce, I decided to start my webshop. The name 'Miss Ponytails' was lovingly created by my dear sister, Maïsha Molly.

I’ve had my share of bad hair days, simply because I don’t want to spend too much time on my hair. Naturally, I have curly hair, but due to frequently straightening or dyeing it, I ended up damaging my hair and had to undergo several 'big chops.' A ponytail became my go-to solution to allow my hair to grow back healthy while still looking beautiful and elegant in just 5 minutes.

For me, having a ponytail is an absolute MUST-HAVE!

Our mission is to make your experience with us as easy and relaxing as possible. We also want to inspire confidence and empower our customers always to look and feel beautiful! Our vision is to become the first nationwide brand in the Netherlands for ponytail hair extensions.

Who is Michantely Lisse?
Where it all started
It all started back in 2017, when I was 17 years old and decided to participate in the Miss Beauty/Teen of Noord-Holland pageant. At that time, participating in beauty pageants wasn’t as common for girls my age as it is now. I initially thought it was just a modeling contest, but soon I realized it was so much more than that.

After a few offline rounds, I was invited to the casting day in Hoorn, along with 100 other girls. At the time, I didn’t have a car, so I shared the exciting news with my mom, Jennifer de Vries. She was so overjoyed, she literally jumped for joy when she heard I was entering a beauty pageant. What I didn’t realize at the time was that both my mom and even my grandmother had their own history with pageants. So, joining felt almost like a natural step, even though I didn’t fully understand what I was getting into.

On the casting day, I decided to just be myself. I answered all the questions in both Dutch and English, walked in small heels, and most importantly, I kept smiling. My smile had always been my strength something that no one could take away from me, and it made me stand out. After a long day, the exciting news came: I was chosen as a Finalist Miss Teen of Noord-Holland! Along with 30 other girls, half of whom were in the adult 'Miss Beauty of Noord-Holland' category—I advanced to the final.

The whole journey was an incredible adventure. I stayed true to myself, enjoying every moment, every rehearsal, and every outing. I always styled my hair for special occasions, so I put some extra effort into that for this experience as well. When the final came around, it was nerve-wracking, but it became clear that my personality and presence had made a lasting impression. Not only did I win the Miss Popularity of Noord-Holland title, but I also took home the Miss Teen of Noord-Holland 2017 crown!

With this provincial win, I earned the opportunity to represent Noord-Holland at the national level in the Miss Teen of The Netherlands pageant. What started as a teenage adventure turned into a journey I will never forget.
